'Proper temples' and a spot of shopping.

The next day I got a taxi to Wat Po/the sleeping buddha (where we were originallly supposed to go before the tuktuk scam!). It was absolutely huge - I had no idea - and definately worth the visit. I also went to the grand palace to see the emerald buddha; I dont think this is so much worth a visit - it cost me 350baht and is just a little green buddha in a temple.

It was then time to catch my flight to KL so made my way to the airport!

A quick little moan: the public transport and traffic in Bangkok is awful; I also miss english breakfasts and cafes.

On monday Zanne and I went to a massive shopping Plaza 'MBK' as it was pouring down with rain. It was a wierd combination of house-of-frazer-esq products mixed with stuff you could find on any street market - including fake tiffany bracklets, gucci bags etc. I got an early night that night and Zanne flew out to Hanoi.

Chatuchak.. Soi Cowboy...

Rosanne and I decided it would be a good day to see some temples so got a boat up Chao Phraya River. Unfortunetly we fell for a tuk-tuk scam that said it would take us round all the temples for 10baht each.... when actually it just used us to get petrol tokens. We still saw some nice temples though - just not the main ones, and in the end it drove off without us anyway so we saw them all for free! I then went up to Chatauchak market (biggest market in asia!) where I bought a few dresses and tops for about 3quid each! They were also selling dogs/rabbits... even squirrels! Zann was still quite jet-lagged and had been to Chatuchak the day before so headed back to the hostel for a kip.

That night we went out with two lovely boys - Glynn and Leon to Soi Cowboy - aparently a slightly more upmarket red-light district with less lady-boys. After waiting for a lesbian show that ever happened we headed to a bar in Nasa and drank till it closed.

When I say ping you say pong.

I'm now blogging from Malaysia - but before I tell you about KL I will update you on what happened back in Bangkok!

After a hectic tuktuk ride, I arrived at 'Soi 1 Guesthouse' in Sukumvit - a completely different area to the Khosan Road. I met a lovely girl here - Rosanne, and after a delicious thai meal (more prawns, more rice, more crab meat..) we made are way to the infamous pat pong for a ping pong show. I certainly got more than I bargained for when I got a ping-pong 'ponged' at my leg by one of the thai girls... after cigarettes were smoked, balloons were popped and trumpets were blown we decided to make our way to another bar. Here we got chatted up by a ladyboy (a very convincing lady, but after she made us feel her stubble I soon changed my mind!) she also showed us what a great job the surgeons had done... an image that will unfortunately stay with me for the rest of my life. After a few more drinks we ended up at 'Bossys' and danced the night away with two thai girls!

Back to Bangkok

Would love to update you all but the internet connection is so slow that it hurts. I'm having a really fun time in bangkok - couldnt get an earlier flight up to KL so going tomoro. Met some lovely people, been out clubbing, ping-ponging, shopping etc etc. Will fill you in in more detail when i can. Muchos Love xxxx
